MATH 103

I hope everyone was prepared and felt the final went well! Tell me how you thought of the class, I'd like to hear it.

Also, please fill out the Tutor Evaluation Form, it'll only take a few minutes. It is very helpful for me.

Few helpful manipulatives from office hours:
  • Rectangular representations of multiplication manipulative: here
  • Factor vs. multiple, GCF/LCM manipulative: here

Hey everyone! Finals are rearing their heads in full swing now, make sure you are prepared. I wanted to ask everyone if they could fill out the Tutor Evaluation Form (it will take at most 3 minutes) so that I can hear your feedback from these past few months and change in the future.

Thanks so much for a great semester, see you at office hours this week and good luck on your finals!

I've finished Ch 13, 27, 28 and 33 :)

I will be holding office hours in my regular room, 160 Education Building, on:

Monday, December 13th from 11am-4pm
Tuesday, December 14th from 8am-1pm

These will be walk in hours, but I will have material prepared for each chapter to hold a mini review session if you wish.

Today we reviewed:
  • Rectangular representations of multiplication and division (check out the multiplication manipulative here)
  • Base conversions (going to and from base 10)
  • Factor vs. multiple, GCF/LCM (check out the factor tree manipulative here)
  • Conditional probability (when given a data table, pg. 657 in book)
  • Old exam questions

I have made flashcards to help you review. If you do not know how to use them (or know all of the features the flashcard set has to offer), please follow the video tutorial. I will post Chapters 27, 28, and 33 soon.

Hello! I hope everyone's week back after break wasn't too strenuous. I wanted to write and say that tomorrow's office hours will be mainly focused around Tuesday's quiz, so bring in question relating to Chapter 33. Tuesday will begin finals preparation.

So far I'm seeing people going for a lot of varying times on mon/tues next week. I'll update by Tuesday night when I plan to hold office hours and what topics I want to cover during each session. Good luck to ever

We reviewed a few things in office hours, but not much. Please email me if you have topics you wish to go over tomorrow so that I can prepare some material :)

To practice GCF/LCM, please check out this manipulative, choose Two on the bottom (and User if you want to enter in your own numbers). Greatest Common Factor / Least Common Multiple Manipulative:

Please fill out the Finals Office Hours Poll!

The posted previous year's lab solutions is a great study aid, go through the problems and work through yourself and check the answers with Professor Murphy's solutions.

Good luck everyone! I know you've all been studying very hard, especially since both review sessions had such a high turn out! You can do it!

On a matter of business, I want to know how many people plan to attend office hours during finals week, the Monday and Tuesday before your exam. I want to request a bigger room if there is going to be another big turn out, I'm not a fan of what happened last Monday where we had about 20 people inside room 160 (way too cramped!).

If you plan on attending during finals week, please fill out the survey/poll: Finals Office Hours Poll. I'd like to get a count this way, and also if you could say which time slots (pick two for each day) that you would prefer office hours to be held that would be great!

Room 242 Education Building will be available for us from 5pm-9pm. I will not be able to show up until 6pm, but you are welcome to come to the room and study with each other prior to my arrival. The last hour, 9pm-10pm, will take place in our regular room 160 Education Building.

Good Luck studying! I am preparing a study guide for you guys that has terms and suggested problems, it should be posted within a few hours.
